At Joseph Freedman Co. (JFC), our core values — Honesty, Flexibility, Sustainability, Efficiency, and Innovativeness — make all the difference in our ability to buy recyclable metals at fair prices from manufacturers, processors, demolition contractors, auto wreckers, refuse companies, scrap dealers, municipalities, and individual households. Beyond offering fair prices for our metals and providing outstanding customer service, we are proud of how we do business. Specifically, we apply the highest moral standards to our interactions with customers and team members alike.
Those principles are summarized in our core values that have allowed us to earn a level of trust that offers you peace of mind in knowing that you are getting a competitive price for your recyclable metals if not the best price.
Our five core values are Honesty, which consists of dealing fairly and transparently with our customers and with each other; Sustainability, which means engaging in metals recycling operations that do not compromise human health and the environment; Flexibility, which means doing everything within reason to meet the needs of customers and team members; Efficiency, which means optimizing resources to mutual benefit; and Innovativeness, which is using the most modern technologies and most enlightened business practices.
When it comes to Flexibility and Innovation, our attention to customer service is a source of pride for every JFC team member. Unlike other metals recycling companies that only want “big” accounts, we welcome all customers, large or small, and provide them with timely accurate, payments, a highly experienced and accessible sales force, and on-the-spot payments from our self-service ATM.
The Proof is In the Numbers
Our Core Values are more than words and images on a website. Our commitment to those principles is demonstrated by the fact that more than half our workforce has celebrated ten-year milestones with the company, and our managers are cross-trained in all key aspects of the business. We’re immensely proud of our team, and credit them with the fact that we have customers who have been doing business with us for more than 50 years.
The loyalty that our team members and customers alike show us stems from the kind of business we run, and from the fact that we also believe that a business that benefits from the loyalty of a community’s businesses and residents should give back to that community. At JFC, we support dozens of charities and fundraisers locally and worldwide, including the beautification of our hometown, Springfield, MA, through the Keep Springfield Beautiful program. We also sponsor the annual Joseph D. Freedman Bowl-a-Thon to benefit the lives of adults with developmental differences living at Camphill Village USA in Copake, NY.
Our desire to “give back” is also illustrated by our memberships in numerous business and industry groups. They include memberships in the Recycled Materials Association (ReMA), the American Copper Council, and HUBZone, a non-profit trade association comprised of companies and other organizations working together to improve the small business community by promoting growth in historically underutilized business zones.
