It’s A Wonderful Life

This 1946 Frank Capra movie stars Henry Travers as an angel who helps a compassionate but despairingly frustrated George Bailey, played by Jimmy Stewart, by showing what life would have been like if he never existed. Through Clarence, the angel, George is allowed to view the lives of his friends and family as if he’d never been born, unaltered by his influence and tells George:

Strange, isn’t it? Each man’s life touches so many other lives. When he isn’t around he leaves an awful hole, doesn’t he?”

What if George worked in a scrap yard . . .?

September 2012 News Release:

A man was killed in an industrial accident this morning. Authorities said the 55-year old worker was crushed by a piece of equipment while working at a scrap metal recycling center. He was pronounced dead at the scene by an EMS. The Sheriff’s Office said he was working on a skid steer loader when hydraulic lines lost pressure causing the bucket to fall, pinning him underneath. He was reportedly a longtime employee of the company. The accident remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office and OSHA.

This Holiday Season, may we all come to see the value in every person, and do everything in our power to make sure each one has a long and wonderful life.
